Happy Valentine’s Day!
I know lots of you probably don’t make a big deal out of today, but I’m sure a lot of you do! I have always liked Valentine’s Day, because it is my Dad’s Birthday and I thought that was pretty cool growing up. My Dad always joked that it was unfair he had to buy a present for someone else on his Birthday! Thankfully he wasn’t born on Christmas…
Regardless of whether you are in love or not, here are some ideas to make today a little more special.
1. Hug someone! Hugs are underrated and make us feel better, people need direct human interaction, I’m convinced we do!
2. Do something nice for someone you don’t know. Put money in the homeless guy’s tin, buy a coffee for the person behind you at the coffee shop, or even a give a little compliment. Nothing cheers my mood like being told something sweet by a stranger.
3. Think of you biggest issues that are bugging you and give yourself permission to not think about them for 1/2 an hour. I am really the worst offender about worrying and over thinking things, it only makes the anxiety worse and doesn’t solve the problem.
4. Talk to your family and friends. Call someone you’ve been meaning to call for ages, tell your Mum you love her and go visit your Grandma! (If you can!)
5. Have fun and enjoy it! I know so many people who dislike Valentine’s Day and wallow in their dislike. Even if it is not your thing, who needs more negativity!?!
Do you do anything special for Valentine’s? Any cute romantic Valentine’s stories out there? I’m a sucker for romantic stories… Or do you have any special Valentine’s recipes, please share the link. I found this one for Bacon Roses the other day, I’m not a huge bacon eater but I think lots of people would go crazy for it!
Whatever you do have a great day!!!

That’s cute about your dad. My mom and my sister both have christmas day birthdays so they always joke about that too. Happy valentine’s day!

Oh wow they are both born on CHristmas! That is crazy! Must be lots of fun in your house on CHristmas!
Got a little scared when I read this because it’s still February 13th in Ontario… Forgot you’re a completely different time zone.
Happy Valentines day to you and hope you share your love with someone. I do sometimes feel like Valentines day has lost its meaning and has been turned “green”. Yet, something like a huge is free and can really make someone’s day

Happy Valentine’s Day! Sorry to scare you!
This post was a great reminder to be positive!
Valentine’s Day is fine with me… Glenn and I have never been really into celebrating it in a big way. We do little gifts and cards, usually (when we were in college he used to make me cards out of athletic tape – he is an athletic trainer and I played basketball – and flowers out of pre-wrap and tape).
My 11-year old son is buying a “crush” gift for a girl at school tomorrow. **sigh**

Oh that is sooo sweet that your son is doing that! How gorgeous!!!!
Happy Birthday to your dad!
I agree that whether you like it/celebrate it or not, there’s no need for a crazy amount of negativity over it. It’s just a day!

Yeah definitely doesn’t need to be a downer of a day!

Thank you for reminding me how simple things can brighten my day!!

Thanks
Happy Valentines Day to you too! Even though I’m single, I still enjoy the day- love the spirit of love in the air!
I always liked it when I was single too!
Valentine’s Day, 1996, I was in college. This guy friend walked up to me and handed me roses. I was confusedly thinking that was a sweet thing to do, then realized that he was asking me out. I was 100% caught off guard, panicked, and more or less ran away (I believe my exact words were “I have to go sit down now.” Eloquent. That’s me). Poor guy thought he’d completely blown it…And now he’s my husband.

Oh wow love love love that story! How funny!!! I bet your husband was relieved when he realised he hadn’t blown it!
Bacon roses! Ha!
Thank you for this wonderful post! It’s great to have reminders that V-Day doesn’t have to be about single/attached…it can be about nice gestures, too!
